Turkey Tuesday Giveaway

So, it seems the thing to do when you have a blog is to give stuff away occasionally.  Sounds fun.  I recently designed this turkey for Thanksgiving and I'm putting him up for grabs.  Here are the rules.....

Anyone who leaves a comment on this post between now and next Monday, October 26th, will be entered to win.  If you are or become a follower of this blog, AND you leave a comment, your name will be entered TWICE. Wait, there's MORE..... If you are a blogger and you post a link to this giveaway on your blog, you will have yet another chance to WIN!!!

Then next Tuesday morning, my very impartial three-year old will pick a winning name out of some sort-of cute receptacle, old school style.  I promise it will be cute.  And the winner will have turkey.  Good luck.....

Chicken Noodle Soup

Nothing tastes better than chicken noodle soup when you've got a really miserable cold.  Made up a big pot..... along with some homemade rolls and I'm quite certain we all feel just a little bit better.

1 whole chicken
 (3.5 - 4 lbs.)
20 cups water
3 bay leaves
2 TBSP dried parsley
3 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp dried basil
5 garlic cloves, pressed
4 celery stalks
3 cups sliced carrots
2 onions, chopped
2 cups fine egg noodles

Combine first nine ingredients (chicken-celery) in a large stock pot. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for one hour or until chicken is tender. Remove chicken and celery from broth, discard bay leaves.  Pull chicken apart from bones and chill chicken and broth separately overnight.  Skim fat from surface.

Add carrots and onions to the broth.  Bring to a boil.  Cover.  Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.  Add chicken and egg noodles.  Cook for 15 minutes.  Season to taste with pepper, garlic salt and nutmeg. This recipe make a lot of soup, so you can enjoy it for a couple of days and freeze any leftovers.

Band Saw Love..... Paying Tribute

I think I've finally killed her. Seems there really is a limit to the number of times you can take one of these apart and put it back together again. Even duct tape can't save her now. :(

Seven years ago I thought it would be cool to learn how to cut my own wood. So I bought this baby and figured it out.

We've spent countless hours together cutting out thousands of projects. Good times. Seriously, I'm amazed this thing has lasted as long as it has. It's a cheap saw that's been extremely well used. I never imagined this one purchase would lead me to create my own wood shop and start my own business..... something I really enjoy.

So, while I'm sad to know I've got to replace her, it's also fitting that our last project together was..... "JOY."

I love what I do.
